Terms of Service

Effective September 30, 2026 Applies to the Sage app for iPhone

The short version of the legal part

These Terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Sage. By using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use Sage. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable, but they are still a binding agreement.

Who provides Sage

Sage is made and run by Omer Ekin, an independent developer. In these Terms, "we", "us", and "the developer" mean him, and "you" means the person using the app. You can reach us at omerekin4@gmail.com.

What Sage is, and what it is not

Sage is a voice application. You speak with an AI coach, and afterwards it writes you a note about the conversation. It is built to help you think out loud and keep track of what you are working on.

Sage is not a licensed professional and is not a substitute for one. It does not provide therapy, counseling, psychiatric care, medical diagnosis or treatment, legal advice, or financial advice. It has no clinical training, no license, and no duty of care. If you need any of those things, please see someone qualified to give them.

Sage is not a crisis or emergency service, and it does not alert anyone on your behalf. See the notice above.

Nothing Sage says creates a professional relationship of any kind between you and the developer.

Who may use Sage

You must be at least 18 years old. The app asks you to confirm this when you set it up, and by using Sage you confirm it is true. If you are under 18, you may not use Sage, and we will delete the account of anyone we learn is underage.

You need an Apple Account, because signing in happens through Sign in with Apple. Your account is yours alone; please do not share it. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your device and Apple Account secure.

What Sage costs

Sage is free while it is in testing. There is no subscription and nothing to buy inside the app.

If that ever changes, we will tell you before you are asked to pay for anything, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first.

Limits on use

Every session costs real money to run, across the voice and AI services behind Sage. To keep it sustainable and free, sessions are capped:

A session ends by itself when it reaches the cap. Days are counted in your own time zone. There is also an overall daily budget across everyone using Sage; if it runs out, sessions are unavailable until the next day. We may change these limits as we learn what Sage costs to run. When you reach one, the app tells you, and Sage is available again the next day.

How you may not use Sage

Please do not:

• use Sage for anything unlawful, or to plan or encourage harm to anyone;
• use it to harass, threaten, impersonate, or abuse another person;
• share someone else's private information with it, or record another person without their knowledge;
• try to break, overload, or probe the service, get into other people's accounts or data, or work around the limits above;
• automate or script your use of the app, resell access to it, or use it to build a competing service;
• copy, decompile, or reverse engineer the app beyond what the law allows.

If you do these things we may suspend or delete your account.

What you say, and who owns it

Your conversations, the notes Sage writes for you, and anything you type into the app are yours. We do not claim ownership of them.

To run the service we need your permission to process them: to send your speech to the voice model that listens and speaks as Sage, to give the conversation to the AI model that decides what Sage says, to write your session note, to store all of it encrypted, and to send it back to your phone. That permission is limited to operating Sage for you, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train AI models or to improve Sage; your sessions are used only to give you the service. What we collect and how long we keep it is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement.

You can delete any session from the app, and you can delete your entire account from Settings, which removes your data from your phone and from our servers. Deleting is permanent and we cannot bring it back.

AI tools you connect

Sage lets you connect your own AI assistant, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, so it can read part of your Sage record. This only happens when you sign in with your Apple Account to approve it, and you choose what each tool may read. Connected tools can read, never change or delete. You can narrow a tool's access or disconnect it at any time, and disconnecting takes effect immediately.

Those tools are run by other companies. We are not responsible for them, and what they do with what they read is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, not ours. Connecting one is your decision.

What Sage says is not always right

Sage's replies and the notes it writes are generated by AI models. They can be mistaken, incomplete, or confidently wrong. They may mishear or misremember what you said, or misread what you meant.

Treat what Sage says as one perspective to think with, not as fact and not as advice. Do not rely on it for health, legal, financial, safety, or other important decisions. Anything you do after a session is your own decision and your own responsibility.

The service will change

Sage is early software, distributed for testing. Features will change and some will disappear. It may be unavailable, lose data, or behave unexpectedly. We may modify or discontinue it, in whole or in part, at any time. Where a change is significant and we can give notice, we will.

Please keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose.

Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time by signing out or deleting the app. To remove your data as well, use Delete account in Settings.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop running Sage. Except where you have broken these Terms, we will try to give you notice and a chance to get your data out first.

The sections on your content, disclaimers, liability, and governing law survive after this agreement ends.

No warranty

Sage is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that Sage will be uninterrupted, secure, error free, or that it will produce any particular result.

Some places do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only as far as the law permits.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost goodwill, arising out of your use of Sage, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Because Sage is currently free, our total liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to one hundred United States dollars (US$100), or the amount you have actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Apple

Sage is distributed through Apple. This agreement is between you and the developer only. Apple is not a party to it and has no responsibility for Sage or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any support or maintenance for Sage. If Sage fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund any purchase price, and to the maximum extent permitted by law Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to Sage. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Sage, including product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and may enforce it against you. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States embargo or designated as terrorist supporting, and that you are not on any United States list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also comply with any applicable third-party terms of service when using Sage.

Neighborhood names

Some neighborhood names on session notes come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. The list Sage uses, drawn from it, is available under the same license on request.

Changes to these Terms

When these Terms change, we post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change matters to your rights or to how Sage works, we will also say so in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Sage after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and of the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. If a dispute cannot be settled between us directly, it will be brought in the state or federal courts located in New York City, New York, and both you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts.

If you live somewhere whose consumer protection law gives you rights that cannot be waived by agreement, nothing here takes those rights away, including any right you have to bring a claim in the courts where you live.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
